Welcome to SAVIS of Halton’s 2026 Support Groups. These trauma-informed groups offer supportive spaces to build insight, learn coping skills, and connect with others through psychoeducation and social connection.

Groups are open to individuals aged 16 and older of all genders. Groups run in seasonal cycles throughout the year.

To express interest, call 905-825-3622 and press 1 or complete the form below and someone will get back to you. An intake will be completed if one is not already on file. When reaching out, please indicate which topic(s) you are interested in. Space is limited.

All groups run from 1 PM to 3 PM.

Increasing awareness of bodily sensations, gentle somatic practices, and accessible ways to activate the vagus nerve to support regulation and safety.

Virtual Psychoeducation Groups

SAVIS of Halton’s Virtual Psychoeducation Groups offer a supportive and trauma informed space to build understanding, develop practical coping skills, and foster connection. These groups are designed for individuals who may not be able to attend in person or who prefer the flexibility and comfort of a virtual setting. Each group provides accessible education on the impacts of trauma while supporting participants in building awareness, regulation, and self compassion in a way that feels safe and manageable.

Neurobiology of Trauma: April 29 1pm – 2:30pm

An overview of how trauma impacts the brain and body, including the autonomic nervous system and common trauma responses such as fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. This group focuses on building understanding of how the brain processes threat, reducing shame through education, and recognizing how these responses may show up in daily life.

 

Identifying Triggers and Effective Coping Strategies: June 24 1pm – 2:30pm

This group explores how to identify internal and external triggers and recognize early signs of nervous system activation. Participants will learn practical coping strategies and grounding techniques to support regulation and navigate triggered states in a safe and manageable way.

 

Trauma Based Thinking and Reframing Techniques: August 26 1pm – 2:30pm

An exploration of how trauma can shape thoughts, beliefs, and internal narratives. This group focuses on increasing awareness of trauma based thinking patterns and introducing gentle reframing techniques to support more balanced and compassionate ways of thinking.

 

Attachment Styles and Interpersonal Relationships: December 2 1pm – 2:30pm

This group explores how early experiences and trauma can shape attachment styles and influence patterns in relationships. Participants will learn about different attachment styles and how they may show up in interpersonal dynamics, with a focus on building awareness and developing more secure and supportive ways of relating.
