The sad truth is that sexual abuse and violence happens more frequently than we think. According to Statistics Canada there were 22 incidents of sexual assault for every 1,000 Canadians aged 15 and older in 2014 — that adds up to about 636,000 self – reported incidents of sexual assault. This does not count those who may feel too ashamed to report or would rather not feel the societal pressures of reporting sexual abuse.

At Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention Services (SAVIS) of Halton we provide reliable resources that are free of charge in the community for survivors of sexual assault and human trafficking. We provide a 24-hour crisis line to support survivors, providing information and counselling as well as face-to-face counselling in various locations in Halton. We also provide community education and outreach to the public, letting them know about the critical services we offer..
