National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women
On December 6th, 1989, a man entered the École Polytechnique de Montréal, separated the male and female engineering students, and shot the women. This became known as the Montreal Massacre. The tragic day now marks the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. It is a day when we remember the fourteen women who died and recognize this day for action. Together, we are able to stand and continue to work for a community free of gender-based violence. On December 6th, take a moment to remember these brave, innocent women along with us at SAVIS. Let us work together to put an end to violence against women.
